LBTEK bandpass and laser line filters are manufactured by vacuum-depositing optical thin-film materials onto a substrate. Each filter typically consists of multiple dielectric layers with different refractive indices stacked together, forming Fabry–Pérot (F-P) interference cavities between the dielectric layers and intermediate spacer layers. The dielectric layers have a thickness of λ/4, while the spacer layer thickness (F-P cavity) is (nλ)/2 (where λ is the design center wavelength and n is an integer). This structure ensures constructive interference at the center wavelength, allowing only the center wavelength to be fully transmitted. By adjusting the thickness of the spacer layers and the number of dielectric layers, the filter’s center wavelength and bandwidth can be tuned.
LBTEK filters are pre-mounted in black anodized aluminum rings, with the housing marked by an arrow indicating the incident direction for easy installation and use. To prevent the substrate coated with blocking materials from being affected by thermal effects caused by out-of-band radiation, it is recommended to orient the blocking-coated side toward the light source (with light propagating along the arrow direction). The filters are designed with dielectric layer thicknesses optimized for collimated light under normal incidence; when the light is not collimated or does not strike the filter surface perpendicularly, the designed center wavelength will shift toward shorter wavelengths, and the bandpass transmission curve will change accordingly. All LBTEK circular lenses can be mounted in LBTEK standard lens sleeves, fixed lens holders, or various coaxial mounting plates, allowing customers to select the most suitable mounting method for different application scenarios.
