Metal-coated mirrors are highly suitable for beam deflection in broadband light sources, offering high reflectance across a wide spectral range. However, metallic coatings are prone to oxidation, discoloration, or peeling in high-humidity environments. To prevent this, LBTEK’s metallic-coated mirrors are coated with a layer of silicon dioxide protection film, isolating the metal coating from direct contact with air. While the protective layer helps prevent silver oxidation, silver-coated mirrors should still not be used in high-humidity environments. They must be used and stored in conditions with minimal humidity at room temperature. LBTEK offers metallic-coated mirrors with aluminum, silver, and gold coatings.
LBTEK offers silver-coated metallic flat mirrors in Ø12.7 mm, Ø25.4 mm, and Ø50.8 mm sizes. Metallic-coated mirrors are highly suitable for beam deflection in broadband light sources, providing high reflectance across a wide spectral range. When using silver-coated mirrors, it is recommended to wear latex gloves or finger cots to prevent oils and residues from fingers from contaminating the optical surface. Care should be taken when handling the mirrors to avoid touching the mirror surface and edges.
