The LBTEK retaining rings are made of 6061-T6 aluminum alloy or 304 stainless steel with a black anodized surface finish. The symmetric slots are compatible with retaining ring wrenches, and SM-threaded retaining rings are used to secure optical components within mechanical parts of the same SM thread specification. Currently, LBTEK offers SM05, SM1, SM1.5, and SM2 retaining rings, suitable for mounting and securing optical components with diameters of Ø12.7 mm, Ø25.4 mm, Ø38.1 mm, and Ø50.8 mm. They are available in packs of ten.
The LBTEK SM05 retaining ring is made of 6061-T6 aluminum alloy or 304 stainless steel with a black anodized surface finish. The surface slots are compatible with the OWR-05A retaining ring wrench. It is used to secure Ø12.7 mm optical components, typically within lens tubes or coaxial plates. In most cases, two retaining rings are used together—one to fix the position and the other to lock the optical component in place.
