The LBTEK fiber optic circulator is a three-port non-reciprocal optical device that allows light to propagate in only one direction. When a signal enters Port 1, it exits from Port 2; when a signal enters Port 2, it exits from Port 3, both with very low output loss. Conversely, light entering Port 2 and exiting from Port 1 experiences high loss, and similarly, light entering Port 3 and exiting from Ports 1 or 2 also experiences high loss. Fiber optic circulators are widely used in fiber lasers, add-drop multiplexers, bidirectional pumping systems, dispersion compensation devices, fiber sensing, and scientific research applications.
