Slit-Type Fiber Variable Optical Attenuator
Operating Wavelength: 185–2500 nm
Connector Type: Standard SMA905
Adjustment Method: Manual Slit Adjustment
Attenuation Range: 0–100%
The Slit-Type Fiber Variable Optical Attenuator offered by LBTEK is designed for precise control of optical throughput between fiber-coupled light sources and optical systems. The device incorporates two LB74UV fiber collimator lenses mounted on both ends, with an adjustable slit positioned in between to modulate the transmitted light flux.
The operating principle involves collimating the input light through the first lens, passing it through the adjustable slit to vary the light intensity, and finally recoupling the beam into the output fiber via the second collimator. The attenuator uses standard SMA905 connectors to interface with optical fibers and provides consistent attenuation performance across a broad spectral range of 185 to 2500 nm.
The fiber position relative to the collimating lens is adjustable via a set screw, offering a tuning range of up to 5 mm, allowing for optimized coupling efficiency. The attenuation level is controlled by a precision mechanical adjustment knob, allowing for smooth and continuous tuning from 0% to 100% transmission. Once the desired optical throughput is set, the position can be locked using an M3 plastic thumbscrew located on the side of the device.
