The LBTEK electrically controlled adjustable fiber optic attenuator uses a blocking type (single-mode/polarization maintaining single-mode fiber) or variable neutral density filter type (multi-mode fiber) attenuation mechanism. The embedded microcontroller drives the circuit to control the internal stepper motor for adjusting the attenuation level. The motor is a bipolar stepper motor with a resolution of 7.5 °/step, and is connected to a deceleration gear, reducing the step size to 0.01546 °/step, providing an attenuation resolution of 0.01 dB.
The attenuator features a built-in RS-232 interface for computer control, and users can access and control it via a 16-pin Hirose connector and communication cable. The LBTEK electrically controlled adjustable fiber optic attenuator includes a communication cable and RJ-11/DB-9 adapter, and it also comes with fiber optic cables. The electrically controlled adjustable attenuator is recommended for use at the calibration wavelength, with an operating wavelength range of 400-1625 nm.
