Compact Design

LBTEK offers two types of compression-style polarization controllers primarily designed for fibers with Ø900 µm protective coatings or Ø250 µm bare fibers. Each polarization controller consists of a rotating fiber compressor and two fiber clamps. The polarization controller generates stress birefringence within the fiber through mechanical compression, effectively functioning as a rotating variable waveplate. The polarization angle and delay of the equivalent waveplate can be adjusted according to user needs, converting any input polarization state into the desired output polarization state. The compression-style polarization controller reduces inherent loss and back reflection losses, offering an alternative to traditional free-space polarization controllers consisting of two quarter-wave plates and one half-wave plate.
The FT-P007-N and FT-P008-N models feature a knob screw to secure the fiber, making them easier to operate compared to the FT-P000-N model, which uses cross screws to secure the fiber.
