LBTEK Liquid Crystal Polarization Rotator (LCPR) is made from a Liquid Crystal Variable Retarder (LCVR) and a Polymer True Zero Quarter-Wave Plate (QWP), installed in a mechanical housing and equipped with wiring. Incident linearly polarized light enters from the LCVR end, with the polarization direction indicated by the cross lines on the housing, at an angle of ±45° to the fast axis of the LCVR. The fast axis of the LCVR is oriented at 45° to the fast axis of the QWP at the rear end. By applying an external AC voltage to the LCVR, its delay can be adjusted, thereby changing the ellipticity of the outgoing light. The QWP then converts the elliptically polarized light with different ellipticities into linearly polarized light with different polarization directions, effectively rotating the polarization direction of the output linearly polarized light.
The LBTEK Liquid Crystal Polarization Rotator achieves continuous rotation of the incident linearly polarized light's polarization direction by over 180° without the need for any mechanical structure, while not changing the output light's energy. The extinction ratio of the output linearly polarized light can exceed 1000:1. LBTEK provides a standard liquid crystal rotator with a working wavelength of 635 nm, compatible with the LCVR Voltage Controller LCVRC-2K25. The system also supports flexible custom specifications to meet diverse user needs in various applications.
Both sides of the LBTEK Liquid Crystal Polarization Rotator are coated with anti-reflection coatings for the 400-700 nm range. Under external AC voltage control, it can continuously rotate the polarization direction of the incident linearly polarized light by 180°, with an extinction ratio of the output light greater than 1000:1. The clear aperture is Ø10 mm, and it is installed in a mechanical housing with wiring. The housing is compatible with Ø1-inch optical element mounts. The housing is marked with the polarization direction of the incident light. Each rotator comes with a test report, which includes a "Voltage-Angle Rotation" curve and reference table to assist with the alignment adjustment of incident light.
