LBTEK Shear Interferometer consists of a wedge prism placed at a 45° angle and an observation plate, where the wedge prism is made of UV Fused Silica and the observation plate is a scattering plate with a reference line engraved in the middle. The wedge angle of each prism is optimized for the beam size it can measure, and the specific angle can be found in the product specifications. The scattering plate is used to observe the interference fringes generated by the Fresnel reflections from both surfaces of the wedge prism. The intensity of the fringes is maximized when the polarization direction of the incident beam is perpendicular to the plane formed by the incident light and the normal of the shear plate.
The wedge angle of the wedge prism used in the LBTEK shear plate is optimized according to different beam diameters. Specific wedge angles can be found in the parameter table below. The shear plate features a magnetic mounting design, reducing the complexity of replacement and enabling quick swaps. According to the applicable beam diameter, the shear plates are available in four models: 1 mm–3 mm, 2.5 mm–5 mm, 5 mm–10 mm, and 10 mm–25.4 mm. For other requirements, please contact us.
