Abrasive Material: Diamond / Silicon Dioxide
LBTEK fiber polishing (lapping) films are available in five types, all sized at 152 mm × 152 mm. During the fiber polishing process, a five-step polishing method is recommended:
The first four steps use diamond polishing films with grit sizes of 30 µm, 6 µm, 3 µm, and 1 µm.
The fifth step uses a silicon dioxide polishing film with a grit size of 0.02 µm.
When using the silicon dioxide film, distilled water should be applied to the surface. A suitable polishing disc is then used to perform a figure-eight motion during polishing. The silicon dioxide film features a high-precision silica-coated surface, which ensures excellent surface finish with minimal scratching and does not contaminate the fiber during polishing.
