Telecentric Lens Definition & Advantages
A telecentric lens is defined as an optical system where the image magnification remains constant within a specific object distance range (or remains unaffected by changes in depth of field). Conventional lenses have field angles where magnification increases with object distance. In inspection applications, field angles cause aberrations (angular errors) that reduce measurement accuracy. This characteristic is particularly critical for applications inspecting objects not on the same focal plane.Compared to conventional non-telecentric lenses, telecentric lenses provide greater depth of field and significantly reduced measurement distortion. Therefore, double telecentric lenses offer unique advantages in dimensional measurement, defect detection, and irregular object inspection applications.
LBTEK's Double Telecentric Lenses feature high telecentricity, high resolution, large depth of field, low distortion, wide field of view, and unique parallel optical design. These lenses require no additional distortion correction during use. With standard C-Mount interface, they can be directly connected to industrial cameras without any adapters. The recommended maximum sensor size is 1.1" (14.2 mm × 10.4 mm).
