LBTEK Objective Oil is designed for use with oil immersion microscope objectives. Due to the high magnification of oil immersion lenses, the first lens is small, and the light transmission is limited. When light passes through objects with different densities of media, some of the light refracts and scatters, leading to issues such as reduced light intensity, dimmed field of view, and unclear specimen observation. To solve this problem, a medium with a refractive index similar to that of the glass slide is added between the lens and the slide to compensate for the light loss. The refractive index of LBTEK objective oil is closest to that of LBTEK cover glass, and when used together, it maximizes the objective's light-gathering ability.
LBTEK objective oil is an aromatic oil derived from distilled cedarwood, which is a colorless or slightly yellow, slightly viscous liquid containing essential oils and cedrol. It is sensitive to light. The refractive index of this oil can reach 1.518, which is very close to the refractive index of glass. This increases the amount of light entering the oil immersion lens, thereby enhancing the brightness of the field of view.
